Brace yourself—lean against a light pole, crouch down in the island of the roadway and use your bent knee for support, lie down and place your elbows firmly on the ground.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a tripod to take great photos of things in motion. This is one of the myths that aspiring photographers take for granted—they assume that the use of a tripod, and therefore presume they cannot themselves shoot likewise without one. Wrong.

Besides, if you’ve got a digital camera you can always set it to take multiple shots. Most of them may turn out like crap, but likely you’ll get at least one good one with a little practice. And one good one is really all you need.
