25 Lessons I Have Learned
19. Are You A Photographer?

It is very important from the onset that you strongly believe and enthusiastically answer “yes!” to this frequently asked question. And regardless of your status or lack of compensation for your work, your heart should not skip a beat when you reply. A sincere smile that folds inward to warm you is also a great way to punctuate your declaration.

Because even if no one is paying you to take pictures, you need to take them seriously. For an earnest effort is what helps raise what you do to the level worthy of your time and effort. Otherwise, you might as well be satisfied with using a Polaroid or the ubiquitous camera phone.

And so when the curious begin to prod and ask where, when and for whom? Don’t be ashamed to explain that you are an avid amateur photograph. And always make sure to point them toward your flickr site to prove it...(i.e. www.flickr.com/photos/lorenzodom).
