7. Strike a Balance


Just as important as maintaining one’s composure in the face of adversity, “striking a balance” suggests the need to exercise one’s equilibrium.

I regularly practice an irregular form of tai-chi and am very aware of the vital importance balance plays when out taking pictures. This is especially true for city folk who have to dodge cars, climb or brace themselves to guard rails, or run away from K-9 units.

Surely the same applies to anyone taking photos out in the wild, upon the tundra, clinging to sharp faced cliffs or climbing steep grades of mountain just so they can reach the summit and take those breathtaking panoramas of the valley below.
