the lost man chronicles
43. passion

what is passion but unbridled enthusiasm for the unseen. a gleaning into one's fantastic life that so many others find daunting. it is also the haunting of the individual that looms over them, a foreboding that warns that when they have seized trying to seize the day, they will stop living. this passion is also the misgiving that such a one has when she stops to rest, if only to hesitatingly attest to her mortality, the irking prod of reality that taunts her with the reminder that some day the day will end. passion rebels against the inevitable by testing the mettle of her mortal strength, which acts with great delusion and disbelief, declaring "i'll sleep sufficiently when i'm dead."
