A Minute Differential

This morning as I exited the house I encountered a sky colored violet like the irises overtaking our garden and pink like cherry blossoms that seem to be falling everywhere as spring matures into summer.

As I was in a rush to catch the 5:40 bus I tried to walk and fetch my camera at the same time. Alas, with each step my purview changed radically, for a mere block and minute the glorious hues of this magnificent horizon were hidden behind the tops of the houses, since I live at the top of a sloped street, a mere 15 degrees apparently makes a world of difference when it comes to seeing the sunrise. Ah, how lucky I am.

But this privied insight and reminder of my fortune was not the most important lesson learned for me this morning. It was that perspectives can change from one extreme to another within a minute differential of time and space, and thus the value of the sum of these two variables is much greater than the numerically measurable differences alone might otherwise indicate.
