27. a minim of existence

"A person's a person, no matter how small."
~ Horton Hears a Who, Dr. Seuss

It was but a half-moon this morning that drove me crazy with delight.

As I stepped outside, the bright orb was hidden above a gossamer curtain of clouds skirting off into the horizon. Literally for miles, from my fortunate positioning one could see nothing but a willowy white covering.

Suddenly, as I walked while gawking upward, trying to navigate without stumbling, the sky opened up as if it were a private screening in my very own observatory.

As the cold wind pushed the nebulae north, I was privy to the entire Milky Way from this dark side of the earth. The purview was phenomenal—for not only was old la lune tuning into me, sending me her positively invigorating vibes, but clusters of constellations came alive as well, and shone their radiance down from the pitch black of the unknown.

And for a moment, I realized I was happy alone, accepting that my home was but a minim of existence in this marvelously vast universe.
