I will not demure when I proclaim that I think this is a gem of advice. I’ve found that stationary props, murals, signs, or anything unusual that just stands out, quite often makes a great set-up for series of photos.

So if you come across something that fits this prescription and can afford to hand around a while, find yourself a good spot, take a few practice shots and than wait as subjects, be they vehicular or pedestrian, pass by.

What I find wonderful about these kinds of photos, regardless of shutter speed, is that you end up with a nice visual contrast between the mobile and the stationary. Moreover, when the former completely overlooks the latter and you capture it on film there is something enchanting in the disregard of the beauty that surrounds them.
